New Changes to Texting and Driving

Effective Monday July 1st:

Driving and texting is dangerous. Distracted drivers in Florida are more likely to cause deadly accidents. The Florida Highway patrol says to "Put it Down: Focus on Driving." Texting is one of the most dangerous behaviors while driving and now Police officers can issue a warning to Florida drivers if using a mobile device while driving. The FLHSMV released a driving safety article about the new law. Click Here to read more.

There are some exceptions such as using the phone for directions, talking on the phone while speaker phone is on, or taping the screen. The only exception is that starting Oct. 1, a driver cannot hold a wireless device in their hands if they are in a school zone or an active work zone with workers present.
